Understanding the Vision.
In August 1992 I came home on vacation from campus. I was then staying with my parents in Ogun State, the western part of Nigeria. As I stepped into my room that cool morning, after my morning shower, I heard the voice of God’s Spirit in my heart. He told me that I will be pioneering a ministry work for Him in the future. (I had previously had a refreshing time of communion in His presence earlier that morning). I treasured in my heart those words that He spoke to me and started preparing myself for the work even as I released myself into His hands.
On April 1, 1997, I heard the Lord speak to me again that He would want me to enter into His harvest field and labour for Him. I said, Yes, Lord. But when do I move out?
In July 1998, the word of the Lord came again to me encouraging me to hold on to the vision.
Finally, I heard the Lord say to me the time has come to move out and start the ministry which He has committed into my hands.
The name of the ministry came to my heart as I studied and meditated on John 4:35-38 (which incidentally is where one of the operational words of this ministry is located) after listening to Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke.
Christ Harvesters World Outreach Ministries Int’l (ChWOM) was birthed on the 21st of June 1999, and commissioned on the 1st of July 2000. It is empowered with the divine commission to go into the Lord’s harvest field, the world and harvest souls for his eternal kingdom, delivering them from all the holds and yokes of the devil through the preaching of the word of life and the manifestation of miracles, healings and diverse manifestations of the spirit. It shall also strive to disciple, encourage, and see believers become strengthened, established, and rooted in Christ.
The Church phase was born out of a unique encounter with the Lord in 2002.
I separated myself to spend some quality time with the Lord in one of the camps in the outskirts of Lagos. It was while there that the Lord said to me "harvesting is not just about plucking the ripe fruits or reaping the mature crops. Harvesting also includes preserving the harvested crops from decay and rottenness." That led us into the establishment of City of God International Church. He said, "...the City of God is where there is healing for every disease/infirmity, restoration for lost dreams/hopes, divine provision and protection from all forms of satanic attacks and projections. All round fulfillment..."
The church City of God Int'l was inaugurated on Sunday, April 20, 2003.
